White Salmon River, Washington

What a great float trip! This is the first commercial guide trip I have been on, but it was still great. It is about a 4 hour trip from meeting at WetPlanet Whitewater headquarters to the end of the trip. Well worth it.

Chalk Basin, Owyhee Country

Although we didn't walk into the Chalk Basin on the Owyhee River, South of Rome, we drove as far as we could. That was about 2 miles away and then we called it good. We cooled off by the river just south of the Basin

Leslie Gulch, Oregon

Kim and I have always enjoyed Leslie Gulch in the Owyhee country of Malhuer county. I have been camping here since the early 1950's and always enjoy returning. Wildlife abounds such as Eagles, Deer, Rattlesnakes, Big Horn Sheep, all sort of birds and small mammals and reptiles. It goes without saying that the geologic features are awesome!

Rogue River

June 25, 2008, Wednesday: We are in Gold Beach, Oregon. Although it was chilly, the sun was out. We got to the Jet Boat Docks at 7 am and began our trip up the Rogue River at 8 am. After about the first hour, it started to warm up and only when the wind was up did it get cold on occasion. Had a great ride and saw eagles, osprey, deer, ducks, Night Herons, Great Blue Herons, turtles, vultures, but no bear.

Gold Beach

June 24, 2008, Tuesday: Arrived at Gold Beach. Set up camp and Secret Camp RV. Really not bad. Showers, etc., are clean. The owner is "interesting". Getting ready to go up the river in the jet boats in the morning.

Sea Lion Cave

June 23, 2008, Monday: Took in the Sea Lion Cave. Great to view the sealions and birds nesting. Very touristy.

Heceta Head

June 23, 2008, Monday: We hiked to Heceta Lighthouse and the surrounding areas. A lot of hiking to do. Some easy some hard but all worth doing.

Florence, Oregon / Sea Lion Cave

June 22, 2008, Sunday: Arrived at Washburn State Park and set up camp. Nice camp ground that is well maintained. It is quite, has clean showers and restrooms. There were several empty campsites, I would suggest bringing your own wood for campfires. We spent two nights here. There are numerous outdoor activities and sites of interest to keep busy.
